Thousands of people participated in the festivities at the Georges Fair Spring Fair recently, helping the Moorebank residential community raise $10,000 for Liverpool Hospital's Palliative Care Unit.
Since 2010, this spectacular community event has raised more than $27,000 for Liverpool Hospital.
School students from Nuwarra Public School, Wattle Grove Public School, Georges River Grammar School and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School were among those who performed at the event, along with many students from local dance groups.
Parents enjoyed browsing the wide variety of market stalls and children we were thrilled with the face painting fairies, rides and Move and Groove Kids Show. The giant bungy trampoline was the highlight of the Spring Fair for teenagers.
Liverpool City Council Mayor, Ned Manoun welcomed visitors to the popular community event and experienced first-hand the strong sense of community that has developed at Georges Fair.
"We are delighted that with the assistance of our performers, market stall holders and everyone who attended the Spring Fair we have been able to raise $10,000 to help create a home away from home at the Palliative Care Unit at Liverpool Hospital," said Mr Nathan Huon, Project Director NSW Investa Property Group.
"The funds raised will be used to create comfortable study nooks for those young people who want to spend time with sick family members but need to keep on top of their studies and to create a family friendly dining area," Mr Huon said.
Georges Fair is a new residential estate in Moorebank which is already home to more than 650 families.
