Investa Commercial Property Fund (ICPF) is pleased to announce the renewal of Aon to a new five-year term over 7,236 square metres commencing in late 2022 at Maritime Trade Towers 201 Kent Street, Sydney.
Aon has been a longstanding tenant of 201 Kent Street, first signing as F B Hall following the completion of the building in 1988. Since then, the Aon tenancy has become synonymous with the building including signage atop of their Sydney based headquarters. As part of the recent renewal Aon will retain its tenancy in the top floors at 201 Kent Street.
This transaction is one of the most significant for the Sydney market this year as it was commenced and concluded in the shadow of Covid-19. More importantly, it is a demonstration of a tenant and landlord working together to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome. This is all the more significant when one considers that Aon will have clocked up more than four lease terms and nearly forty years in the building by the end of the current term.
According to Michael Cook, Group Executive Property, retaining Aon was a major objective of the firm during the Covid-19 pandemic. Cook said, “We’ve invested enormous time and energy to ensure the building’s services and amenities have stayed relevant for the changing needs of the tenant in the current environment. Aon’s most recent renewal for another five-year term is a great endorsement of this investment”.
Cook also paid tribute to the management teams, past and present. Investa’s real estate services team practice market leading tenant services with renewals such as the latest Aon signing a testament to these. “Great credit should also be shared by General Manager, Liam Stewart and his team, but also to the many property and facilities teams who have had the task and pleasure of managing Aon over numerous lease terms,” said Mr Cook.
201 Kent Street is a wholly owned asset of Investa’s wholesale fund and part owner, ICPF. Fund Manager, Brendan Looby said, “Aon’s tenancy at 201 Kent Street has contributed to the performance and reputation of ICPF and we greatly appreciate Aon’s endorsement of the building through their ongoing tenancy”.
201 Kent Street is a landmark A-grade building that includes the historic Grafton Bond Building. Positioned within an amenity-rich location in the western corridor of Sydney the building delivers immediate transport connectivity for tenants. 201 Kent Street offers over 39,000sqm of net lettable area and has a 5.5-star NABERS Energy rating. The building provides ample on-site advantages, amenities within the complex include a sunny, open air courtyard, childcare, co-working operator – Work Club, End of Trip facilities, indoor/outdoor cafes, and an onsite dedicated property management team.
