Investa is delighted to announce that Barrack Place at 151 Clarence Street, Sydney has achieved a triple win
at the 2020 Property Council of Australia’s Innovation & Excellence Awards.
Barrack Place won the 2020 Rider Levett Bucknall Australian Development of the Year
, the Colliers International Award for Best Office Development
and the Landcom Award for Best Sustainable Development – New Buildings.
Developed by Investa for Oxford Investa Property Partners (OIPP), Barrack Place was awarded Stage 2 Development Approval and Design Excellence from the City of Sydney in 2015, before reaching Practical Completion in 2018.
The project was also announced as the winner of the NSW Development of the Year category in the prestigious Innovation & Excellence Awards in September.
“We are extremely proud to receive these three prestigious awards. It marks a real milestone for Investa and a culmination of the team’s significant achievements over the past seven years, as the end-to-end developer of this landmark Sydney CBD commercial development,”
said Shen Chiu, National Director of Commercial Development.
“Winning the state category was a phenomenal achievement for everyone involved, but to win the Australian Development of the Year, the Best Office Development of the Year , and best in class for sustainability is just the icing on the cake.
“I would like to personally thank all of the partners who have supported us on the journey, most notably our owners (Oxford Properties Group), fund managers (OIPP), architect “Architectus”, builder “Built”, multidisciplinary engineer & pre-commit tenant “Arup”, project manager “TSA Management” and quantity surveyor “Rider Levett Bucknall”.
“Their contributions resulted in a hugely successful commercial outcome. They enabled us to deliver our vision of creating one of Australia’s most innovative and customer engaging developments - enlivened by smart technologies, supported by a vibrant retail precinct and activated ground plane and underpinned by a host of industry leading sustainability features.”
Key to the project’s success was a culture of collaboration and trust with all contributors to the project.
“As the pre-commit anchor tenant and the base building engineer, we are honoured to have partnered with Investa and contributed to this outstanding, sustainable office development. We are delighted with the building as home to our Sydney office, and proud to have worked together since the very beginning in such an open and collaborative way with our friends at Investa,” said Cameron Dymond, Arup Regional Property Leader.
Pioneering new technologies, building wellness certification standards specifically for Australia, and industry leading sustainability credentials, Barrack Place was fully leased at completion.
Nicole Quagliata, Fund Manager OIPP said: “We’re extremely proud of this wonderful achievement. Winning these three awards is truly testament to the great OIPP working partnerships and superior lifecycle management principles that were embedded at the outset of the Barrack Place project.
“It was with the help and commitment of our consultants, contractors and stakeholders that we were successfully able to achieve our shared vision and bring this exceptional project to life,”
Ian Lyon, Head of Development, Asia Pacific at Oxford Properties, said: “Barrack Place is an excellent example of our commitment to delivering exceptional places with world class sustainability and industry-leading digital capabilities. This development demonstrates the incredible results that Oxford and Investa have, and will continue to, achieve together.”
