Global sports and fashion retailer, JD Sports Fashion plc (“JD Sports”) has opened in style in Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall at 400 George Street (“the Building”).
The successful fashion retailer signed a 10-year lease for the 1,200-square metre space across both Ground and Level One, reflecting the continued strong appeal of prime retail space in Pitt Street Mall.
The ground floor has been transformed into a sporting footwear department store, featuring the latest designs of every major global brand, while the upper level showcases an extensive range of sports clothing and active wear. Nike joined in the opening celebrations with their Nike Customisation Cube, enabling enthusiasts to add their personal touch to their favourite designs.
Michael Cook, Group Executive, Investa said: “Investa has enjoyed a long relationship with the Next Athleisure Group through Glue and other brands. The new JD Sports store located within 400 George Street and fronting Pitt Street Mall is the perfect fit for this prime retail location. If the first few weeks are any guide, JD Sports will emerge as one of the strongest retailers in the city.”
Hilton Seskin, Head of JD Sports Australia said: “Opening a Sydney CBD flagship store cements our place in the Australian retail market and broadens our reach within an iconic shopping district, allowing us to execute a true flagship location in Sydney.
Australian consumers continue to enjoy the JD brand with its engaging retail experience and exclusive product. In particular, the Pitt Street store features a Nike shop-in-shop with new technology and visual executions, continuing the market leading partnership with the world’s biggest sports brand”, he said.
400 George Street is a 51,000 square metre office and retail complex located in the centre of the Sydney CBD. Adjoining the office building, Sydney Arcade incorporates over 5,500 square metres of prime retail space and accommodates leading Australian and international retailers such as Hugo Boss, Telstra Discovery Centre, Mont Blanc and a thriving Woolworths Metro store.
Leasing agent, Alex Alamsyah of Knight Frank completed the leasing transaction in conjunction with Investa.
