Investa forges ahead on its pathway to net zero making the pledge to the World Green Building Council (World GBC) Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment.

Investa joins a total of 163 signatories, which includes 129 businesses and organisations, 28 cities, and 6 states and regions, in this commitment, which now account for approximately 6.5 million (tCO2e) of portfolio emissions annually and nearly $35 billion annual turnover.

These companies are displaying industry leadership to decarbonise their assets further and faster, contributing to accelerated industry transformation in the #RaceToZero.’

Peter Menegazzo, Chief Executive Officer said: ‘I am thrilled that Investa is now a signatory of the WorldGBC Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment – sustainability is embedded deep in our culture with every team accountable for creating a positive social and environmental impact in the communities we operate as well as achieving outperformance for our investors and asset owners.’

Investa’s commitment to a low carbon economy is net zero operational emissions (scope 1 and scope 2) for assets under operational control by 2025; reducing tenant electricity emissions and reducing embodied carbon emissions in new developments and major renovations, from 2030.

Investa’s achievements to their commitments to date can be found in the latest sustainability report for FY21, where Investa procured 100% Green Power for their Sydney CBD assets, resulting in a 34% reduction in emissions intensity and 15% reduction in energy intensity.

The implementation of a carbon calculator on capital works projects has also resulted in a 15% carbon reduction ensuring we are on track to deliver a 45% carbon reduction in their capital works projects in FY22.
