Investa has commenced one of the largest housing projects undertaken in Darwin since Cyclone Tracy.
Investa’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Scott MacDonald joined representatives from Defence Housing Australia (DHA) on July 14th, to officially turn the first soil at Muirhead in the city’s north, the site of the 1,100 lot Breezes Muirhead estate.
Breezes Muirhead has been designed to complement Darwin’s tropical climate and lifestyle. Allotments are orientated to capture the prevailing dry and wet season cooling breezes, with design guidelines encouraging home owners to adopt a sustainable approach to architecture and design.
Each home site will feature a ‘side yard,’ facilitating the channeling of breezes, as well as providing an area for outdoor entertaining or boat storage.
With plans for sustainable, low energy housing Investa will look to incorporate solar hot water and solar energy systems into the design guidelines, so homes will be energy efficient. More than 20 hectares of open green space will encourage a sense of community and connect the estate to neighbouring suburbs, and the infrastructure that services Darwin’s north.
