Investa Property Group ("Investa") was recognised with three awards at the 2011 Green Globe Awards in Sydney on Tuesday night receiving the prestigious Premier’s Award for Sustainability Excellence, the Built Environment Sustainability Award and the Climate Change Leadership Award.
The Green Globe Awards are the leading environmental awards in New South Wales which showcase outstanding achievements in the sustainable use of natural resources in NSW and leadership in tackling climate change.
Winners were selected by an independent panel of expert judges and announced at the gala event held at Parliament House and hosted by the Premier, The Honourable Barry O’Farrell MP and the Honourable Robyn Parker MP Minister for the Environment.
Investa was particularly recognised for its performance in continually pushing the boundaries of sustainable business practice, which has consistently set the standard for industry to follow. The launch of Australia’s first tri-generation precinct along with other key initiatives across Investa’s portfolio, were acknowledged for their significant positive impact on the way commercial buildings operate.
NSW Premier, Hon. Barry O’Farrell singled out Investa for praise commenting that in the past decade Investa had delivered on initiatives by thinking outside the square and looking to the future, which made both good environmental and business sense.
Investa’s General Manager, Sustainability, Safety and Environment, Craig Roussac commented: "At Investa we’ve achieved commercial success by treating environmental and business priorities as one and the same."
"The Green Globe Awards, perhaps more than any others we’ve come across, take a similar approach. They are extremely credible, and because they recognise leadership and innovation, you know that if you are fortunate enough to be recognised with an award, you are moving ahead on a more sustainable footing," said Mr Roussac.
Investa is already the recipient of five awards this year, with the three Green Globes adding to the recently awarded Property Council of Australia’s NSW Development of the Year, and Australia’s Best New Sustainable Development of the Year for Coca-Cola Place at 40 Mount Street, North Sydney.
