The portfolio achieved a NSCA score of 99.5% up from 99.0% in 2006/07, with only one lost time injury.
A major program was implemented at our residential construction business to improve the induction process. The enhanced induction addresses company objectives, hazards, risks, controls and behaviours and is conducted and documented for all employees and contractors. More than 700 new inductions were undertaken by employees and contractors focussed specifically on the tasks they undertake. Feedback from these sessions suggests the level of appreciation and understanding of Clarendon's safety procedures has markedly improved. This has led to employees and contractors having a clearer awareness of expected behaviours and a clearer understanding of the consequences of inappropriate conduct.
In November, Clarendon was again the recipient of the Delfin Environment Health & Safety Award, for the Nelsons Ridge development.
Audits of all construction sites are ongoing and include on-the-job behavioural observations covering all aspects and activities. This again led to improvements in site management.

We maintained an active interaction with WorkCover authorities and provided input to WorkCover Industry Consultation Committees and were included in working parties involved in developing industry solutions. To date this has included installation of roof trusses and scaffolding and in association with WorkCover and the HIA , a 'Residential Housing Subby Pack'.
