As a result there are a number of issues that are not addressed in this report even though we are undertaking work in these areas, for example, to reduce the impacts of our internal operations.

Despite drought conditions easing in many areas and good rains lessening the acute water shortage recently experienced in Brisbane, community concern about climate change and water availability shows no sign of diminishing. The Commonwealth Government has in turn taken a series of steps to address greenhouse gas emissions. A new Department of Climate Change has been created, a commitment to creating an emissions trading scheme commencing in July 2010 has been confirmed and work has commenced on the legislative framework to underpin it, most notably the National Energy and Greenhouse Reporting System (NGERS). We believe the cooperation currently being displayed by State and Commonwealth governments on water, energy, safety and pollution policies confirms the appropriateness of our results focus in this report.

Significantly, this report presents our total greenhouse emissions and mains water usage profile for the first time. Future reports will extend the principle of completeness to other material impacts, including pollution and waste which are partially reported in this update.

Health and safety continues to be a high priority and we are audited by the National Safety Council of Australia (NSCA), a reputable external body. Workforce training is the other area where we have a high level of control and which in turn has a high social and environmental impact through our operations.
