INVESTA Sustainability Report

Security and Emergency Preparedness Investment & Asset Management

Our security and emergency preparedness review has continued in 2007. Existing emergency preparedness processes comply with the relevant Australian Standards which primarily address standard security risks such as fire, bomb threat, medical emergencies and civil unrest. Threats such as avian influenza or terrorism-related events are controlled by government authorities and controls put in place predominantly relate to the control of movement of large volumes of people and large scale communication of what is going on. APEC Leaders Week, to be held in Sydney 2– 9 September 2007 has provided an opportunity to engage with police and other authorities in how these types of risks are dealt with in a known situation, with this experience expected to provide systems and processes for future integration into our day-to-day business.

Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit

APEC Leaders Week is the centrepiece of the APEC Australia 2007 year, bringing together Senior Officials, Ministers, Business Leaders and the Leaders of the 21 APEC Member Economies for a week-long series of meetings. APEC Leaders Week will be attended by 21 world leaders (Presidents, Prime Ministers and Leaders of many of the world's most powerful economies), over 40 Ministers, 400 international business leaders, more than 6,000 delegates and support personnel, and 1,000 media representatives.

Extensive planning was put in place by Investa to limit the risk of events impacting the continued operations of our tenants in our properties that fall into the various security precincts as shown in the map below. Working closely with NSW Police and security contractors, Investa prepared site specific security plans supported by central security control, quick response teams, and direct communication links with the police. Security control measures included secure access and egress for tenants, increased security presence, and a communications strategy to ensure that tenants understand how they contribute to keeping our buildings and their business secure during the period.
